Located in southwestern Minnesota in Redwood County. LSIC is a federally recognized sovereign Dakota Nation, with 1,743 acres of tribal land, and members are part of the Mdewakanton Band of Dakota. The community is grounded and guided by Dakota culture, traditions, and language – where every person contributes to a diversified social and economic life. LSIC opened a new Dakota language immersion early childhood program in 2018, which has earned a 4-star Parent Aware rating and is eligible for early learning scholarships and the highest level of CCAP support.

Grant supports full translation of Creative Curriculum into Dakota, for LSIC’s new Dakota language immersion early childhood program, as well as creation of four developmentally appropriate books in Dakota, with each book building on the developmental steps of the stage before.
