Minnesota Children’s Museum

Focus Area: Early Childhood

Grant Amount: $10,000

Located in St. Paul. MCM serves families throughout Minnesota with learning experiences through play. With immersive exhibits and programs, MCM emphasizes play as a critical ingredient in every child’s development. Expanded in 2017, it serves more than 500,000 visitors each year, and reaches thousands more across the state through Smart Play Spots, Storyland exhibit and other programs.

Grant supports the launch of an early childhood learning community (ECLC), comprised of early childhood teachers and providers in a collaborative learning model to strengthen executive function skills in children, assess those skills, and provide culturally relevant play-based interventions to develop those skills. Participants in the ECLC will be drawn from 15 early childhood organizations including Head Start, ECFE, and several high-quality childcare centers serving low-income children.
