Located in Minneapolis, serves metro area. Founded in 1905, GMCC is an interfaith and intercultural organization that provides services and advocacy around equity and poverty, volunteerism and service learning, mentoring and youth development and food security.
Grant supports GMCC’s LakeStreet Youth Labs Summer Camp, a no-cost, out-of-school academic and recreational program for underserved elementary and middle schoolers with a focus on the families who live, go to school, and play in the Phillips neighborhood of south Minneapolis. It is a 5-week, full-day (9 am to 5 pm) summer program that supports school readiness, well-being, and academic enrichment to curb summer learning loss and decrease educational disparities. Daily breakfast and lunch are served. The youth served are underserved BIPOC youth in grades 1-8 who continue to face systemic inequities in education, health, and wellness.
