Based in St. Paul, located within the St. Paul Promise Neighborhood, ARTS-Us is a community-based nonprofit organization founded in 1992 by a group of African American artists and multicultural educators. Its mission is to develop young leaders through the arts, culture, and sciences of the African Diaspora.
Grant supports the Black eSTEAM Series, which weaves West African arts, intergenerational mentoring, and hands-on STEM exploration into a unified learning experience for 25 youth in grades 1–4 within the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood. Seven professional Teaching Artists guide students through Visual Art and STEM workshops in which clay, paint, and percussion become tools for understanding scientific concepts, culminating in an Exhibit and Presentation Night where students demonstrate their learning to the community.
