Project FINE

Focus Area: Youth Development

Grant Amount: $15,000

Based in Winona, serving Winona and surrounding area. Established in 1990, Project FINE serves refugee and immigrant families, with a focus of helping the newcomers overcome barriers so they can begin building a new life, and easing the integration of these ethnically diverse families into the local community. Its mission is achieved through a series of language and acculturation services, as well as referrals to existing services in the community.

Grant supports expand Project FINE’s Kid’s Cultural Club, established in 2017 and designed to help 50 youth ages 5-12 to increase their knowledge and acceptance of other cultures and to form relationships with youth from other cultures. The new component involves a series of 10 culturally based cooking sessions. The program is held weekly as a part of the Kid’s First after-school program, which is held at a local community center with support from Winona State University.
