Project for Pride in Living

Focus Area: Youth Development

Grant Amount: $12,000

Based in Minneapolis, serves inner-city neighborhoods of Minneapolis, St. Paul, and first-ring suburbs. PPL is a large social service agency committed to working with low-income people in 4 core areas: affordable housing, employment and job training services, family support services, and youth development and education.

Grant supports expansion of PPL’s afterschool tutor and mentor program with additional art therapy offerings, deepening the academic and social emotional learning of children ages 5-12 who face multiple barriers to achieving key academic and developmental milestones. Grant funding will help add a second certified art therapist in order to increase the number of art therapy sessions offered. Due to Covid-19, PPL has retooled the art therapy portion of its program to deliver via Zoom, and it is also making sure that its families have basic needs covered, such as food and telehealth.
