Based in Minneapolis, serves Twin Cities metro area. Washburn Center for Children provides mental health services to children and their families at three locations throughout the metro area, including a new facility in north Minneapolis.
Grant supports expanding Washburn’s family-focused staff to include a full-time Spanish-speaking therapist. This person will provide child-parent psychotherapy (CPP) for Spanish-speaking families for children ages 0-5. CPP is a therapeutic intervention for children from birth to age five who have experienced at least one traumatic event and as a result are experiencing behavior, attachment and/or mental health problems; it has proved to help young children repair attachment disorders caused by trauma that can, in term, protect them from the worst outcomes in the event of further trauma.
